Introduction of Rajasthan Chief Minister Fellowship Program (CMFP): A Brief Insight

Many talented young graduates want to understand how the government works in practice but rarely get an opportunity to experience it firsthand. Government departments can also benefit from fresh ideas, data skills and innovative thinking. The Chief Minister Fellowship Program (CMFP) aims to bridge this gap.

The Government of Rajasthan introduced this programme under Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma. The Planning Department manages the programme, while the Directorate of Economics and Statistics, Government of Rajasthan, implements it. The programme aims to involve young professionals in policymaking, encourage innovation in government schemes and independently assess programme performance.

The programme provides for 50 Fellows to work in the Chief Minister’s Office or departments assigned by it. Each Fellow receives a monthly stipend of Rs. 60,000 and an additional Rs. 5,000 for connectivity and mobility. The initial fellowship lasts one year and may be extended up to two years. Fellows also receive orientation, an Experience Certificate after six months and a Completion Certificate at the end.

Candidates must be aged up to 28 years as on 1 January 2026. They must hold either a postgraduate degree with at least 65% marks or a professional bachelor’s degree in a field such as Engineering, Medicine, CA, CS or Law. The programme also expects candidates to have good command of Hindi and English, along with knowledge of data analytics and AI tools.
